![]() ![]() Personally I'd just enjoy it as is and replace anything worn out. Listed parts are already all top quality, just dated at 9 speed. It was a decent quality bike and it’s perfectly nice bike to learn how to wrench on. ![]() ![]() I’m not hating on the bike it’s sort of a period piece from the mid to late 90s. It was cutting edge for about two years and then everybody learned the flaw of the design, the suspension doesn’t do much unless you’re seated. That particular design of rear suspension was known as a unified rear triangle. If you want to learn about more fixing bikes park tools website is excellent as are many of the links in the side bar for the sub Redditįinally be prepared for people on this sub to tell you that fixing some old bikes is not worth it. Also it looks like the rear triangle of your frame does not have disc tabs. It’s hard to see if your fork has a place to mount a disc caliper, But generally speaking 25 year old suspension forks are not the greatest, they often need a rebuild but parts are nonexistent. If you want to upgrade to discs you would need a new front wheel, i am assuming Your current front hub does not have fittings for a brake rotor. I can’t think of anything that would need to be replaced unless it was worn. Thanks in advance!Īll the parts you listed our excellent quality. But I still wouldn't mind putting some quality parts on it, so money isn't a limiting factor here. It won't see anything majorly aggressive, I just want to be able to ride it around town, take it camping, and maybe hit some forest service roads at the worst. Other than the seat post, stem, wheels, and handlebars, I figure everything else could use a refresh. Some kind of clip-in pedals, I forgot to look, but would prefer a standard type pedal I'd like to rebuild it completely and was wondering what kind of jig and tools I'd need and maybe some part suggestions, what kind of general compatibility issues to look for, and where to buy everything (websites).Īvid sidepull brakes (would like to upgrade to discs) I don't know a ton about bikes, but I maintain and rebuild cars and trucks so I figure it can't be too difficult. ![]() I recently picked up a Schwinn S10 from a garage sale for $50 and it seems to be in pretty good shape for the most part. ![]()
